Letter to HMCS York |
| The Naval facility at Toronto during World War II was housed in the Automotive Building. It was commissioned as the "HMCS York". It served as both a recruiting and training center. The Royal Canadian Navy Volunteer Reserve Half company was established in 1923. For World War II it was moved to the Automotive Building and in 1942 was commissioned as HMCS York. In 1947 it moved to a smaller building in the same area and continues to this day. See: Canadian Navy: The Naval Reserve |
