Lone Pine CA

Where Hopalong Cassidy, Roy Rogers, Gene Autry, the Lone Ranger and Lash Larue still live

As a kid rushing off to the rodent infested Capital Theater every Saturday to catch a western and the next chapter in the current serial I fell in love with the rocks and scenery in which my cowboy heros did their work.

Almost 6o years since I last visited the Capital I finally found those rocks. And along with it the cabin which appeared so often in so many of the westerns.

The rocks are located in the Alabama Hills just outside of Lone Pine California. (five hours north of Los Angeles.)

"Enjoy with me when out of the hills ..."

Here are some of the pictures I took while there. Below are pictures from "Silent Conflict" - we were there.

Being on location with Hoppy was a delight and finding locations was thrilling.

Here are Jane and Charles

Here are California and Hoppy.

"Stage to Tuscon" with Randolph Scott also used this same location.
