Manzanar

"Manzanar War Relocation Center was one of ten camps at which Japanese American citizens and resident Japanese aliens were interned during World War II. Located at the foot of the imposing Sierra Nevada in eastern California's Owens Valley, Manzanar has been identified as the best preserved of these camps." From Manzanar a web site run by the National Park Service.

Jane and I visited Manazanar in March 2005. The beautiful background of the Sierra Nevadas belies the realities of the internment. It is another reminder that even a nation based on the most noble of goals can succumb to unreasoned actions which mock those same noble ideals.

Manzanar Photos is a 4mb file of photos I took when Jane and I visited the site in March of 2005. Takes about 30 seconds to load on a high speed connection.
