HISTORY
Opened: 1881 - 1886 The first sub-offices were based on their geographic location in the City of Toronto. They were later assigned other names: North - became Carleton Street
East - became Queen Street East
West - became Bleecker Street

First hammers - intaglio duplexes N E and W in the canceller not in the dater hub. Only dates seen are 1881

Directional indications, East, West, North appear in dater hubs (spelled out) as well as canceller.

The following hammers are proof strikes of what appear to be CDS cancels. However, they have not been seen on cover. At first I suspected these may have been the dater portion of duplex hammers as illustrated above. On closer examination I noted that the proof strikes have dotes rather than dashes separating the location from BRANCH OFFICE. So - do these CDS cancels exist on cover?
