Note that each card bears the processing number D-3-A-6186a

I am indebted to P. McCarthy of London, Ontario
for his generosity in selling these cards to me.

The 3 cent post card rate went into effect April 1, 1943 as the result of a 1 cent war tax which affected first class rates. (Smith, p4).

The above card was sent by the Imperial Tobacco Company to acknowledge receipt of $30.00. A transaction number D-3-A61861 was included on the card.

Eight days after receiving a receipt for the order the above card was received indicating that the first order had been shipped.
